Funding to support RDI by enterprises

The call intends to support knowledge-intensive innovative businesses while developing novel marketable products, services and technologies with high intellectual added value. Entries by micro, small and medium sized enterprises as well as large companies are invited to compete for funds in the range of HUF 80 to 500 million (EUR 258 to 1612 thousand) to finance their research, development and innovation activities performed either individually or in consortia.

The programme considers project proposals that fit in with any of the sectoral priorities specified in the National Smart Specialization Strategy.

Funding to be allocated from the NRDI Fund is available to applicants from the Central Hungary region only (Budapest and Pest County). The total budget is HUF 21 billion (over EUR 67.5 billion).

Submission of applications

Applications can be submitted continuously until the available funding is exhausted, by 31 December, 2016 at the latest.  Project proposals received will be evaluated and assessed in phases; the deadline for submitting proposals for the first phase is 17August, 2016.

Eligible applicants

The call is open for micro, small and medium sized enterprises as well as large companies with seat, sites or branches in the Central Hungary region, and also for businesses registered in the EEA with their Hungarian branches operating in the Central Hungary region. Eligible applicants may apply either individually or in a consortium of no more than 3 entities.

Eligible objectives and activities

Funding may only be awarded to projects that fit in with the sectoral priorities specified in the National Smart Specialization Strategy. Funding can be applied for the following activities (only experimental development is eligible for individual funding):

  • experimental development (min. 50 percent of eligible project costs)
  • applied (industrial) research (max. 50 percent of eligible project costs)
  • coordination activities related to the project
  • services related to the implementation of the project
  • purchase of tangible and intangible assets; construction, modernization and extension of building required for the project purpose
  • SME’s participation at exhibitions or fairs.

Total available budget

The scheduled amount of total available budget for the call is HUF 21 billion (over EUR 67.5 billion).

Available funding for applicants

Applicant may apply for a grant in the range of HUF 80 million (HUF 160 million for consortia) to HUF 500 million (EUR 258 to 1612 thousand).

Mandatory commitments

The applicant commits to create, as a result of their RDI activities,

  • new scientific and development results and intellectual properties,
  • new R&D jobs,
  • a new product/technology/prototype.

Duration of the project

The project should be executed in no more than 24 months from the starting date. Projects started before the submission of the proposal are not eligible for funding.
