Newsletter of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office

Pálinkás József

József Pálinkás, President of the NRDI Office requested partnership from the representatives of innovative enterprises and incubator houses at the Digital Factory’s forum on 20 June 2016. The partnership, which relies on mutual confidence, can only work if both incubator houses and the financer aim at long-term cooperation.

The proper cost accounting of researcher wages for projects financed under the Horizon 2020 programme is a major challenge for Hungarian institutions, since regulations regarding the means used to top up salaries became more stringent than in the previous framework programmes. Experts of the NRDI Office initiated several discussions and consultations involving Hungarian institutions of higher-education and research for a deep insight into the remuneration practices of the concerned organizations, in order to have proper arguments and solution proposals when negotiating with the European Commission on the cost accounting rules.

Postdoctoral researchers are 30% more willing to apply

Young researchers have more funding opportunities as a result of the substantially revamped funding system of postdoctoral research projects and fellowships, effected by the NRDI Office this year. In line with international best practice, the aim of changing the system was to better separate traditional fellowship programs, which provide wage-like funding, and the financing of research projects within the funding schemes for postdoctoral researchers.
