ICT Proposers’ Day

Organised by the European Commission, this year Budapest hosted the ICT Proposers’ Day, the information and networking event of Horizon 2020, the EU’s framework programme for research, development and innovation. The event, which was broken down to thematic sessions, featured representatives of domestic universities, research institutes and innovative Hungarian businesses, as well as the National Contact Points (NPCs) of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office.

The “Support of business RDI activities” (VÁLLALATI KFI_16) call is aimed at fostering the research, development and innovation activities of domestic businesses and thus contributing to the development of new marketable products, services or technologies, including prototypes, with high added value. Altogether 239 project proposals were submitted for the second round of the call, between 15 February and 17 July. With latest funding decisions another 80 businesses won non-refundable funding of more than HUF 16 billion in total (over EUR 52 million), up to the full budget of the call, to implement their projects in Budapest or Pest county.

The National Research, Development and Innovation Office will inform applicants about the new calls of the European Commission’s funding programme in various events. Horizon 2020, the EU’s research and innovation funding programme, supports scientific excellence in Europe.
