Description
The Molecular Fingerprinting National Laboratory plans to validate the laser molecular fingerprinting technique developed at the Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) in Munich and the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics (MPQ) in Garching in a large-scale study on blood samples collected in Hungary. The aim of the research is to combine laser physics, molecular science and machine learning to detect various diseases (cancer and cardiovascular diseases) at an early stage and monitor the health of volunteers who claim to be healthy, creating a new platform for modern medicine. The combination of large-scale research, long-term cryogenic sample storage and (semi-)automated blood sample handling, clinical and other data, and laser-based technological developments, together offer an internationally unique opportunity to draw new conclusions, monitor health at the individual level and detect disease.
Main research areas:

  • Laser technologies
  • Collection and analysis of blood samples
  • Machine learning algorithms
  • Biobanking

Benefits to be expected from laboratory research:

  • Early detection of diseases
  • Health monitoring
  • Development of a national and international research network

Implementers

  • Center for Molecular Fingerprinting Research Nonprofit LLC.
  • University of Szeged
