On behalf of the National Innovation Office (NIH), senior counsellor Zoltán Fodor participated on the second meeting of the Hungarian-Tunisian Joint Economic Committee organised in Budapest on 7th November 2012. Mr. Alaya Bettaieb, state secretary of the ministry for foreign investment and cooperation of the Republic of Tunisia led the Tunisian delegation. On behalf of the Tunisian Industry and Innovation Development Agency (APII), Mrs. Lami Ghazouani, deputy director of the Tunisian Ministry of Industry participated at the meeting.

During the discussions with Mrs. Ghazouani, we received an invitation to attend the conference "Crossroads of Business and Technologies (CAT2012)" organised in Tunis and we agreed to help the Tunisian partner in the interconnection and network development of the Tunisian techno-poles and industrial districts.

Mr. Fodor’s presentation reported on the history of our scientific relations with Tunisia and the actual function changes of the Hungarian Innovation Office aiming to approach scientific research to business opportunities. The Hungarian scientific research and development is essential to increase the international competitiveness of Hungarian companies and our Office is doing its best to encourage the commercial utilisation of scientific results, including patenting and transfer technology issues.

In order to boost the scientific cooperation between Hungary and Tunisia, we agreed to organise in Budapest, a mixed Hungarian-Tunisian project-generation workshop in 2013.
