Globally outstanding achievements yielding a total of more than HUF 33.8 billion in surplus revenue and bringing outstanding social benefits were awarded at the Hungarian Innovation Grand Prix ceremony
Budapest, 26 March 2024 – Hungary’s innovation scene sprang to life again when the 2023 Hungarian Innovation Grand Prix and 7 other innovation prizes were awarded on 26 March 2024 in the Upper House of the Hungarian Parliament.
Sustainability in focus: a constructive exchange of views on cooperation between business, research and the public sector
Budapest, 22 March 2024 – Supporting research, development and innovation related to the green transition of society and the economy, and strengthening the circular economy, are priority focus areas for both national and European fund allocations. These fields offer many opportunities and breakout points for Hungary.
The NRDI Fund’s Programme Strategy of 2024 has been published
Following the consultation of the National Science Policy Council, the Ministry of Culture and Innovation has published the 2024 Programme Strategy of the National Research, Development and Innovation Fund (NRDI Fund).
HUF 5.7 billion public funding for startup incubators
A decision has been taken in the Startup Factory funding programme, announced in October, to support the development and incubation of technology startups: 12 technology incubators across the country have been given the opportunity to invest their own capital in promising startups of their choice, supplemented by public funding, and to support them in achieving market success by providing capital and business know-how.
Over HUF 30 billion for basic research projects
Launched on 21 September 2023, the Focus Area Innovation Call for Proposals 2023 of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office (NRDI Office) has been successfully closed. The project proposals were reviewed by academic and market experts, as well as the newly established focus area innovation boards covering the 3+1 focus areas of the John von Neumann Programme.

Budapest Design Week is celebrating a milestone anniversary. The 20th anniversary festival, open from 5 to 15 October, will recall the outstanding items, events and moments of the last two decades of Hungarian design life. The event opened with the presentation of the Hungarian Design and Design Management Awards at a ceremony on 5 October at the Museum of Ethnography. This year’s Design Management Award went to a company that manufactures medical diagnostic equipment. The Hungarian Design Award winners include a family of lamps, a rack railway vehicle concept, a home training bench and a smart buoy.
