The National Innovation Office in cooperation with the Ministry for National Economy organised a successful conference for innovative start-ups entitled “20 years of Hungary within EUREKA” in Budapest, on November 15, 2012. The event attracted around 120 participants including start-ups, spin-offs, venture capitalists and business angels as well as representatives of organisations having a key role in supporting companies.

The conference was opened by Prof. Zoltán Cséfalvay, Minister of State for National Economy, followed by the welcome speech of Mr.Pasi Tuominen, Ambassador of Finland to Hungary.

The achievements of Hungary’s 20-year membership and the results of the Hungarian EUREKA Chairmanship in 2011-2012 were introduced to the audience by Dr. Sándor Erdő, ex-HLG chairman. The EUREKA Innovation Award 2012 was handed over to Mr. Tibor Balogh, managing director of Holografika Ltd. for their EUREKA project “Augmented reality for vehicle architecture and virtual assembly” (ARI(VA)2).

Entrepreneurs and financial investment experts were involved in roundtable discussions focussing on the most significant factors of success in business and the existing opportunities for financing innovation. The conference was concluded by the closing remarks of Dr. György Mészáros, president of National Innovation Office.

As a side-event, organisations providing support services to innovative companies introduced themselves: National Innovation Office, Hungarian Investment and Trade Agency, Hungarian Intellectual Property Office, HIPAvilon Nonprofit Ltd., Hungarian Association for Innovation and the Young Entrepreneurs Association Hungary were present.
