The newly appointed S&T attachés of Brussels and London have started their mission

The Science and Technology (S&T) attachés of the Hungarian Embassy of Brussels and of London have started their mission. The S&T attachés work for the interest of the Hungarian technology and innovation community in accordance with the government’s aim to improve research and technology-development.

The attaché’s main duties are to represent the international relations of Hungary in the fields of scientific research, technology, technological- and product development and innovation. They foster Hungarian research and science institutions and the whole Hungarian scientific community, while being in continuous relation with Hungary’s most important S&T partners.

The attaché-network is operated by the National Innovation Office (NIO) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The NIO coordinates the work of the attachés while they fit into the integrated and unanimous system of Hungary’s external relations structure.

Anikó Dobi-Rozsa – United Kingdom (London)

Anikó Dobi-Rozsa has more than ten years of experience in diplomacy and state administration, and over fifteen years of experience in developing innovative finance mechanisms to support energy efficient, renewable energy and innovative technology investments. Prior to the Science and Technology attaché job she worked as a consultant for innovative finance mechanisms in the United Kingdom, cooperating with municipalities on implementation of residential energy efficiency programmes. Since 2008, she has been working with Hungarian and British companies and organizations on European projects, financed from the Regional Development Fund. She holds a master degree in economics, a postgraduate degree in law and currently she is a PhD candidate at the Central European University’s Environmental and Science Policy Department. Aniko’s primary aim is to develop the British-Hungarian scientific and technology partnerships between higher education and research institutions, introduce Hungarian innovative corporations in the UK and contribute to the knowledge transfer in the field of innovation between the two countries.
 

Béla Murányi - Belgium (Brussels)

Béla Murányi MSc. Civil Engineer has completed numerous engineering projects regarding regional and local water supply and sewer system networks as well as spending a longer period in the Hungarian governmental research and innovation (R&I) multilateral management. In the second half of the nineties, he actively took part in the preparation of the accession of Hungary to the EU and NATO in the specific area of R&I in both, the national management in Budapest and the Mission of Hungary to the EU in Brussels, as a science attaché between 1994 and1998. He promoted the participation of the Hungarian research sector in the civilian and defence research and technology development programmes of NATO as member of the Research & Technology Board (NATO RTB). Most recently he participated in drafting the Hungarian position during the planning procedure of EU Horizon2020 Research and Innovation Framework Programme for the coming 2014-2020 period in the staff of the National Innovation Office (NIH).

László Szilágyi – Belgium (Brussels)

Mr. László Szilágyi is an economist, who is active as an innovation policy maker. Since 2009, he has worked for the minister without portfolio responsible for R&D and Innovation, for the the National Office for Research and Technology, and for the Ministry for National Economy. Previously, he had a significant role in the elaboration and implementation of the National Strategic Reference Framework, the Economic Development Operational Programme, and the Central Hungary Operational Programme. His highlighted task in Brussels is to help the alignment of national and EU-level innovation policies, with special regard to the synergies between H2020 and European Structural and Investment Funds, as well as the dynamisation of Hungary’s participation in joint programming activities.
