Hungarian Business and Innovation Forum in Helsinki

Organized by the Embassy of Hungary, the Finland Chamber of Commerce, Helsinki Region Chamber of Commerce, and Enterprise Europe Network on 21 October 2015 in Helsinki, the Hungarian Business and Innovation Forum provided a platform for enterprises in Finland to do business with Hungarian partners. Held in the residence of the Hungarian Ambassador, the Forum offered a comprehensive information package to the participants about the economy of Hungary, the innovation infrastructure, business opportunities and the incentives of the Hungarian Government helping foreign enterprises in their business activities in our country.

Vice President for Innovation and General Affairs Dr. Ferenc Friedler presented new strategies for innovation in Hungary and explained the role of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office as a funding agency. He emphasized the scientific potential and the advantageous investment environment of Hungary.

Keynote speech was delivered by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Mr. László Szabó. Hungarian investment opportunities were presented by President of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency Mr. Róbert Ésik and CEO of the Hungarian National Trading House Ms. Zsanett Ducsai-Oláh.

Leading Finnish company Nokia was represented by Vice President for Research and Technology Mr. Lauri Oksanen, who explained the benefits of the innovation infrastructure, while Executive Vice President Mr. Jukka Salo of the public organization encouraging foreign direct investment FINPRO shared their investment experiences in Hungary.

During the day, Vice President Friedler met with Ms. Ulla Hiekkanen-Mäkelä, Executive Director of the Finnish funding agency for innovation, Tekes. Ms. Hiekkanen-Mäkelä explained the comprehensive processes of funding from filing an application through evaluation to project closing. Vice President Friedler also met with Director of the Academy of Finland, Mr. Pentti Pulkkinen, who explained the system of funding opportunities in Finland.
