Budapest Territorial Innovation Platform was ceremonially established on 28 November 2019. The charter document was signed by 11 universities in Budapest, including the University of Veterinary Medicine, Corvinus University of Budapest, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Eötvös Loránd University, Hungarian University of Fine Arts, Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, National University of Public Service, Óbuda University, Semmelweis University, University of Theatre and Film Arts and the University of Physical Education.
The member universities offer excellent opportunities on their fields of science for business operators involved in innovation. Their expertise covers a wide spectrum of veterinary science, technical sciences, economic sciences, natural sciences, social sciences, human sciences, arts, information technology and medicine. To set up collaborations and find market actors, the universities use existing or newly developed methods or pathways including, among others, business collaborations, research centres, research groups, projects and project calls, the organisation of conferences and lectures, the Centres for Higher Education and Industrial Cooperation, as well as various innovation and knowledge transfer offices.

The Territorial Innovation Platform in Debrecen was set up on 13 November 2019.
The University of Debrecen strengthens the background and effectiveness of the research, development and innovation activities of the health industry, in particular the pharmaceutical industry, agriculture and food industry as well as of the IT and electronics industry in the region. Owing to the characteristics of the region, it covers the entirety of agriculture from animal breeding, through cultivation, horticulture, environmental management, nature protection, water management, food sciences, quality assurance to economic and natural sciences.
The university runs a Technology Transfer Center (TTC) with the aim of increasing the efficiency of knowledge transfer, boosting university-industry cooperations and enhancing the innovation performance.

The Territorial Innovation Platform in Miskolc was set up on 12 November 2019.
With its instruments and laboratories, University of Miskolc is an important research base and scientific centre of domestic scientific and technological developments enabling the improvement of natural, technical, social, human and medical sciences, as well as arts.
The mission of the Higher Education and Industry Cooperation Centre (FIEK) of the university is to contribute, both professionally and scientifically, to improving the country’s – in particular the region’s – economic and industrial power, retaining its population and the development of the social environment.
Since the creation of the platform, University of Miskolc has been very actively pursuing its activities and set up wide ranging business collaborations and partnerships. The Territorial Innovation Platform in Pécs was set up on 22 November 2019.
University of Pécs is particularly active in the fields of research into health and medical sciences, animate and inanimate natural sciences, human sciences, social science and arts.
The university has an Innovation Committee and an innovation organisation since 2005 whose task is to identify research results as intellectual properties, to place them under protection as industrial property and use them in innovation. Business utilisation of the various inventions is taken care of by the Technology Transfer Office. Its activates include product-related market research, business plan development, attracting investors, drawing up license schemes and even the preparatory works for setting up start-up businesses.

The Territorial Innovation Platform in Gödöllő was set up on 12 February 2020.
To ensure the development of an innovation ecosystem and its results-oriented operation, the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences set up its Directorate for Innovation Management and Priority Matters consisting of four organisational units. The Agricultural IT Centre for Higher Education and Industrial Cooperation ant the Centre for Higher Education and Industrial Cooperation (FIEK) in Kaposvár aim to develop an organisational structure that is suitable for setting up an RDI capacity satisfying the demands of industrial partners and for developing competitive products and services. The Information and Knowledge Trasfer Office is responsible for providing RDI services, performing back-up functions, and organising trainings and competitions. The Defence Innovation Unit aims to create relationships between the university and the representatives of the defence sector, to encourage the establishment of businesses, to support and mentor businesses and to develop curricula. On its Gödöllő campus, the University provides TIP members with online, phone or personal consultation services in relation to applications.

The Territorial Innovation Platform in Győr was set up on 19 November 2019.
Széchenyi István University set up its cooperation platform called Management Campus Competence Centre that provides local businesses, in particular small and medium-sized enterprises, with services in support of their international competitiveness and the development of their innovation skills.
Its main activities include:
- Student Innovation Projects where students of various fields of science work, under the supervision of metros, in multidisciplinary groups of 4-5 for three months on development tasks specified by partner businesses.
- Innovation facilitation where, through the adaptation of the FORTH innovation method, experts help partner businesses in developing their innovation skills, in defining new services and products in the phase of idea and concept development.
- Management research activities that focus on the development of the theory and methodology of the innovation services and trainings presented.
- Technology transfer and student innovation development. The Management Campus Competence Centre is responsible for university-level technology transfers, including the filing of applications for the protection of intellectual properties and their utilisation, as well as the systemisation of university knowledge and offering such knowledge for use.

On 11 May 2021, a Territorial Innovation Platform was established in Dunaújváros, by which another region joined the professional initiative of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office.
For more than 20 years, the University of Dunaújváros has been a stable player in Hungarian higher technical education. As a university of applied sciences, one of its main missions is to be an attractive institution in the field of engineering, information technology and related research, both nationally and internationally, providing solid professional and practical knowledge. Committed to expanding industrial and business links, it contributes to the region’s intellectual capital through a range of research and other projects.
Thanks to its dynamic development, it now operates in an environment with significant industrial potential with advanced infrastructure, state-of-the-art laboratories and research facilities.
The Institute of Engineering Sciences of the University of Dunaújváros consists of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Department of Materials Science and the Department of Natural Sciences and Environmental Protection. Their research focuses on materials science and technology, non-destructive materials testing and measurement, and environmental applications of electrical discharges (environmental research). The Institute has broadened its RDI activities with electromobility, which both enriches and increases the potential of its education and research portfolio. Complex mechatronic systems, electric drive technology, sensor and actuator technology and advanced computer-based control technology are prominent in electric transport and the operation of electric vehicles.
Within the University of Dunaújváros, the Industrial Development Centre (IFK) is responsible for coordinating industrial actors and university competences (measurements, studies).

With its research, development and innovation activities and scientific performance, Neumann János University acts as an academic centre in the region. The Territorial Innovation Platform in Sopron was established on 26 May 2021.
With traditions of nearly three centuries, renowned Sopron University hosts trainings some of which are unique int he country. The special knowledge basis of its education units as well as its connecting innovation potential outline the position of the University on the Hungarian higher education landscape. Through collaboration with professional and business partners, institutions and the city of Sopron, the University intends to fuel the region’s development.
In order to support its innovation activities, the University set up the Centre for Corporate Relations and Innovation (VKIK) to handle knowledge transfer and sales missions. The centre aims to reinforce relations and RDI cooperation with industrial partners, to minimise the risk of development projects, to promote the University’s technologies at the market.
In the period 2008-2012 several large infrastructural tenders were implemented at the University, with significant investment in buildings and assets. This resulted increasing research and investigation capacities at the Simonyi Károly Faculty of Engineering, Wood Sciences and Applied Arts, and setting up the West Hungary University Central Laboratory (KVL). KVL pursues its activity in line with a strict Quality Management Manual based on MSZ EN ISO 17025:2005 standards as well as the Organizational and Operational Rules. KVL’s activity covers the following areas: wood industry product examinations, tempering operations control, fire safety conformity of building materials, paper examinations, environment protection investigations, soil investigations, plant investigations.

As a key research base, it helps its partners to exploit their R&D potential, develop their innovation capacity and indirectly strengthen their economic potential through available research capacity and knowledge transfer.
The Centre for Health Promotion and Sport Science is an interdisciplinary research unit of the university engaged in human life sciences. Its main tasks are the transfer and dissemination of information for the preservation, restoration and development of human health, and research into physiological changes resulting from physical training, and into the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries. Using the research results in the region’s institutions and departments, the aim is to develop innovative partnerships with sports organisations and municipalities.
