Upon the initiative of the President of the NRDI Office, the lines of the new model of calls are being set up in close cooperation with professionals familiar with the characteristics and needs of startups. Learning from the consequences of the previous, less successful calls, after several rounds of discussions, this new model may become an efficient and value-creating tool of governmental interaction.
Concerning the objective of the call, participating consultants agreed with the efforts of the NRD Office that invested state funds should facilitate the market success of applying businesses rather than simply improve their application skills. According to professionals involved in the first startup consultations, key priorities to a new model should include establishing applicant-friendly procedures, defining clear success criteria, giving chance to applicants to demonstrate varied competencies (technological, marketing and management skills) through their personal presentation, as well as implementing transparent and trustworthy assessment methods.
The first call of the programme aimed at improving the chance for innovative growth of businesses, will be open in October for micro and small-sized businesses within the Central Hungarian Region, with funds of 250 million HUF (806.5 thousand EUR) in total.
