United Arab Emirates seek innovative cooperation with Hungary

Several innovation priorities of the United Arab Emirates coincide with the National Smart Specialisation Strategy of Hungary approved in autumn 2014. This fact provides an excellent basis for joining our research and development efforts in certain fields, said József Pálinkás, President of the NRDI Office while negotiating with Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, U.A.E. Minister of Economy.

European Forum Alpbach on global inequality

4500 registered participants of 86 nations came to Tyrol, Austria, to visit the usual summer European Forum Alpbach. József Pálinkás, President of the Research, Development and Innovation Office contributed too, within the framework of the Technology Symposium of the event with a tradition of 70 years.

European Academies for science-based decisions in policymaking

Even the European Council is supplied with science-based advice by the European Academies Senior Advisory Board (EASAC), the leading body of which met in Strasbourg on 30-31 August 2015. József Pálinkás, President of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office was also invited to the session, as the organisation’s Vice-President re-elected back in 2013.

New horizons to inspire national research and development

The first three announcements of the portfolio of calls to promote value-creating activities of national research, development and innovation (RDI), were published as of 25th August, offering funds of 71 billion HUF (approx. 229 million EUR) in total.

Intensifying research cooperation with Mexico

A Statement from the Annual Meeting of the Global Research Council

The annual meeting of the Global Research Council, consisting of most of the world’s research funding organizations, was hosted by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and the National Research Foundation South Africa in Tokyo on May 26–28, 2015. Presidents of research funding organizations of around sixty countries attended the meeting; Hungary was represented by József Pálinkás, president of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office in charge of the National Research, Development and Innovation Fund.

Session of the French-Hungarian Inter-governmental Joint Committee on Science & Technology (S&T)

The 22th session of the French-Hungarian Inter-governmental Joint Committee on Science & Technology (S&T) was held on April 23rd 2015 in Paris. During a fruitfull meeting, the Parties scrutinised Hungarian and French project proposals submitted in the latest call for proposals, published in the framework of the bilaterally-coordinated Balaton Integrated Action Programme.

Hungarian-Korean Business Technology Forum

A successful Hungarian-Korean business technology forum was organised by the Hungarian National Research, Development and Innovation Office, the Hungarian National Trading House, The Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology and the Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency. The forum attracted the representatives of 20 Korean and 50 Hungarian enterprises. For them, the event provided an excellent opportunity for expanding the scope and potentialities of Hungarian-Korean R&D, innovation and business co-operation.

Lendület-kutatócsoportok létrehozása 2015-2020

A Magyar Tudományos Akadémia elnöke a Lendület program keretében nyílt pályázati eljárású felhívást tesz közzé 2015-ben induló kutatócsoportok létrehozására az MTA kutatóközpontjaiban, kutatóintézeteiben és a hazai egyetemeken. A Lendület program célja az akadémiai intézmények és egyetemi kutatások dinamikus megújítása nemzetközileg kimagasló teljesítményű kutatók és kiemelkedő fiatal tehetségek külföldről történő hazahívásával, illetve itthon tartásával. Jelentkezési határidő: 2015. január 13.

Government agreed on the adoption of the National Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3) and the Research Infrastructures in Hungary documents

The Hungarian Government agreed on the adoption of the National Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3) and the Research Infrastructures in Hungary documents (Government Decision 1640/2014). The preparation of a smart specialisation strategy is a precondition to receiving the 2.3 bn EUR financial support for research, development and innovation from the European Union. This budget is almost twice the amount that was available in the previous programming period (2007-2013).

Start Tel Aviv 2014 – Call for participation

As the result of the cooperation of the Embassy of Israel, the Tel Aviv municipality, the National Innovation Office and the Design Terminal, one Hungarian start-up company founder is given the chance to travel to Start Tel Aviv 2014, the most prestigious international professional programme series. The organizers are looking for Hungarian seed stage companies from the Web, Mobile or Security sector. Application can be sent until the 30th June, 2014.

Signing Ceremony between National Innovation Office and the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology of the Republic of Korea

On the 27th of January, 2014, during the inaugural meeting of the Hungary – ROK joint economic committee in Budapest, Mr. László Korányi, Vice President for International Relations of the National Innovation Office signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation with his partner, Mr. Young Soo Lee, the president of the Korean Institute of the Industrial Technology KITECH.

November 14th, 2013, Beijing – An exchange of experts for the People’s Republic of China agreement was signed on November 13th 2013 in Beijing between László Korányi, acting president of the National Innovation Office, and Jianguo Zhang, director general of the Chinese State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA), in the presence of Péter Szijjártó, Hungarian State Secretary for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations, government commissioner for Chinese-Hungarian trade relations and for Russo-Hungarian economic relations.

Budapest could become the region’s start up capital by 2020

Tuesday, November 5, 2013, Budapest (MTI) – The BudapestHUB working group has set a target to make Budapest the region's startup capital by the end of this decade; the State’s responsibility is to act as a catalyst and clear all obstacles along the way – Zoltán Cséfalvay, the Ministry of National Economy’s Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and National Economy said on Tuesday.

The international jury of NIH’s Call for Proposal ATI-2013 accredited incubators in the fields of ICT and Life Sciences

15 October, 2013, Budapest – The National Innovation Office (NIH), as the accreditation organization of the Call for Proposals for awarding the title of “Accredited Technological Incubator” (ATI-2013), has announced the winners of ATI-2013 (the Call was published in July) at the Award Ceremony on 15 October. According to the decision of the international Selection Committee (SC), this year’s awarded incubators come from the ICT and Life Science sectors.

Hungarian startups meet with Israel-based businesses

The National Economy Ministry, the National Innovation Office (NIH) and the Israeli Embassy to Hungary hosted the first Israel-Hungary Innovation Day at Graphisoft Park yesterday in Óbuda. NIH acting chairman László Korányi stated that an agreement signed on Wednesday by his office would provide €2 million in funding to Israel- and Hungary-based business looking to establish or advance business relations.
