This year, the Hungarian Economic Association (MKT) organised its 60th Itinerant Conference of Economists, which now took place at the József Attila Study and Information Centre of the University of Szeged.

The two-day event included three plenary sessions and 27 thematic round tables, with a total of 160 speakers. The event was attended by 600 people on site and the online audience reached almost 9000.

The NRDI Office was represented by István Szabó, Vice President for Science and International Affairs, in the session entitled Innovation success conditions among small and medium-sized enterprises, where the keynote presentation was given by Magdolna Csáth, university professor, member of the Board of the Competitiveness and IT Divisions of MKT, former member of the National Competitiveness Council. In addition to Magdolna Csáth and István Szabó, Péter Megyeri, co-owner of Etelburg, a manufacturer of premium writing instruments, and Attila Simon, CEO of Herend Porcelain Manufactory, participated in the panel discussion following the presentation.

The starting point for the panel discussion was the research project conducted at Pázmány Péter Catholic University under the leadership of Magdolna Csáth, which examines the success conditions of innovation in Hungarian SMEs. The head researcher presented the project results in a presentation. The panel members tried to find answers to the questions and challenges raised in the presentation.
