HUF 4 billion to support market-oriented research and development talent

A total of more than HUF 4 billion in funding has been awarded to 150 applicants from 17 Hungarian universities under the Cooperative Doctoral Programme. The programme provides substantial funding to support doctoral research in cooperation with businesses, encouraging market-driven scientific career development and boosting Hungary’s innovation competitiveness.

HUF 2 billion for market exploitation of innovative research results

Building on the knowledge capacity of domestic universities and research institutes, innovative products and processes can be created now with a public funding of HUF 2 billion. The Fast Track programme provides non-reimbursable funding to start-ups and spin-offs, mainly to bring research results related to healthy living, green transition or digitisation to the market.

Nearly HUF 14 billion to support excellent Hungarian research

More than 360 researchers and research groups will benefit from budgetary support totalling HUF 13.8 billion. Targeted at individual researchers and research teams, the so-called OTKA (Hungarian Scientific Research Fund) programmes provide excellence-based support to research projects in different categories based on the different stages of the scientific career, contributing to the strengthening of Hungarian researchers and their international scientific achievements. Project evaluation focuses on the social and intellectual impact of the research.

The Hungarian Innovation Grand Prix is once again open to the most successful innovations

Budapest, 16 November 2023 – Today, the Hungarian Association for Innovation (MISZ) officially announced the 2023 Hungarian Innovation Grand Prize call, jointly with the Hungarian Innovation Foundation, with the main support of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation and the National Research, Development and Innovation Office, and with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Economic Development and the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office.

The Startup Factory programme is to be relaunched from today. The government will grant around HUF 5 billion in funding to incubators that also provide mentoring and capital investments to Hungarian start-ups. HUF 79 billion available this year for innovation projects under the John von Neumann Programme

This week Parliament adopted Hungary’s new innovation strategy, the John von Neumann Programme, which focuses on linking universities, research institutions and the economy. This programme is implemented through the Programme Strategy of the National Research, Development and Innovation (NRDI) Fund for 2023. This year, HUF 79 billion will be available under the programme to support innovative projects.
