The most advanced research infrastructures around the world - various large equipment, complex facilities, data banks - are definitely indispensable for solving global problems and for scientific breakthroughs. However, their construction and maintenance in most cases are beyond the financial means of a single country, that is why they are realized with international cooperation (like e.g. the CERN laboratory in Switzerland celebrating its 70th anniversary this year).

The National Research, Development and Innovation Office of Hungary (NRDIO) as a governmental agency, spends over HUF 10 billion (around EUR 26 million) annually to ensure that Hungarian researchers and research institutions have access to all the opportunities provided by the most significant international research infrastructures, enabling them to have breakthrough scientific results to be used for the Hungarian and global communities.

An excellent example of such research infrastructure memberships is the Biobanking and Biomolecular Research Infrastructure (BBMRI ERIC). The importance and benefits of the research infrastructure for Hungary are explored by Csaba Magyarósi, a popular Hungarian scientific vlogger. The film was made on the request and with the support of the NRDIO.
