In accordance with the previously signed “Cooperation Program for the years 2013- 2014 between the Government of Hungary and the Government of Flanders in implementation of the Cooperation Treaty between the Government of the Republic of Hungary and the Government of Flanders”, a project generating scientific workshop was held in Budapest on June 25 organized by the Flemish Research Foundation Flanders (FWO), the Hungarian Academy of Science (HAS) and the National Innovation Office of Hungary (NIH).

Geneva, 23 June 2014. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the largest and most powerful particle accelerator in the world, has started to get ready for its second three-year run. Cool down of the vast machine has already begun in preparation for research to resume early in 2015 following a long technical stop to prepare the machine for running at almost double the energy of run 1. The last LHC magnet interconnection was closed on 18 June 2014 and one sector of 1/8 of the machine has already been cooled to operating temperature. The accelerator chain that supplies the LHC’s particle beams is currently starting up, with beam in the proton synchrotron accelerator last Wednesday for the first time since 2012.

The European Commission and the European Investment Bank Group (EIB) today launched a new generation of EU financial instruments and advisory services to help innovative firms access finance more easily. Over the next seven years, it is expected that the "InnovFin – EU Finance for Innovators" products will make available more than €24 billion of financing for research and innovation (R&I) by small, medium and large companies and the promoters of research infrastructures. This finance is expected to support up to €48 billion of final R&I investments.

The 2nd Scientix Conference will take place 24 – 26 October 2014 in Brussels, Belgium. With the expected participation of around 550 teachers, policymakers, researchers and project managers, it will be one of the major networking events in STEM education in Europe.

The goal of the Innovative Medicines Initiative 2 (IMI 2) is to develop next generation vaccines, medicines and treatments, such as new antibiotics. SASER (Safe & Secure European Routing) is a 80 million Public-Private Partnership project of 58 companies, research organisations, and universities from Germany, France, Finland, Denmark and UK. The project is partly publicly funded by the research ministries/ agencies: BMBF (Germany); DGCIS (France), and TEKES (Finland). The project is run under the EUREKA cluster programme Celtic-Plus.

BIOSPAIN is the largest biotech event organized by a national bioindustry association in Europe and one of the largest in the world by the number of one-to-one meetings (2.775) and companies participating (762). BIOSPAIN is organized by ASEBIO, the Spanish Bioindustry Association and each edition is co-organized by a local institution from the host city/region.
