The 13th Hungarian – Japanese Intergovernmental Science and Technology Consultation concluded with success
The 13th Hungarian-Japanese Intergovernmental Science and Technology Consultation (S&T Consultation) was held on 21 February in Budapest, Hungary, under the coordination of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office and with the cooperation of the Embassy of Japan in Budapest, in order to promote cooperation between the two countries.

European Commission confirms that model-shifting universities can continue to apply for Horizon Europe funding
In the view of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation and the NRDI Office, the Council Decision does not prohibit the submission of proposals by universities maintained by public interest trusts established under Hungarian Act IX of 2021/ universities concerned by the Council Decision, only the signature of agreements with them, and we continue to recommend and support their application to Horizon Europe.

The Innovation Section of the Hungarian Economic Association was founded
The Innovation Section of the Hungarian Economic Association held its inaugural meeting on 3 February 2023.

Superbacteria in cancer therapy
On 8 December, at the invitation of Dr. István Szabó, Vice President of the NRDI Office, eight members of the nine-member team from the Eötvös Loránd University Faculty of Natural Sciences (ELTE TTK), which won gold at the iGEM competition in Paris at the end of October, visited our office. In addition to the winning team, we had as guests Dr. Imre Kacskovics, Dean of ELTE TTK, and Dr. Erik Bogsch, Jr., Director of the Biotechnology Business Unit of Richter Gedeon Plc.

Tripartite Agreement on Professional Support for Innovation
The leaders of Corvinus University of Budapest, the University of Pannonia and the National Research, Development and Innovation Office signed an agreement on 18 October at Corvinus University in Budapest to promote innovation management in Hungary. As part of the cooperation, they established the National Innovation Conference, which is to be developed into an international event and will be held alternately at the two signatory universities every year.

More funding helps businesses and researchers participate in international programmes
