A Statement from the Annual Meeting of the Global Research Council
The annual meeting of the Global Research Council, consisting of most of the world’s research funding organizations, was hosted by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and the National Research Foundation South Africa in Tokyo on May 26–28, 2015. Presidents of research funding organizations of around sixty countries attended the meeting; Hungary was represented by József Pálinkás, president of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office in charge of the National Research, Development and Innovation Fund.

Hungarian-Korean Business Technology Forum
A successful Hungarian-Korean business technology forum was organised by the Hungarian National Research, Development and Innovation Office, the Hungarian National Trading House, The Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology and the Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency. The forum attracted the representatives of 20 Korean and 50 Hungarian enterprises. For them, the event provided an excellent opportunity for expanding the scope and potentialities of Hungarian-Korean R&D, innovation and business co-operation.

A Magyar Tudományos Akadémia elnöke a Lendület program keretében nyílt pályázati eljárású felhívást tesz közzé 2015-ben induló kutatócsoportok létrehozására az MTA kutatóközpontjaiban, kutatóintézeteiben és a hazai egyetemeken. A Lendület program célja az akadémiai intézmények és egyetemi kutatások dinamikus megújítása nemzetközileg kimagasló teljesítményű kutatók és kiemelkedő fiatal tehetségek külföldről történő hazahívásával, illetve itthon tartásával. The Hungarian Government agreed on the adoption of the National Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3) and the Research Infrastructures in Hungary documents (Government Decision 1640/2014). The preparation of a smart specialisation strategy is a precondition to receiving the 2.3 bn EUR financial support for research, development and innovation from the European Union. This budget is almost twice the amount that was available in the previous programming period (2007-2013).

15 October, 2013, Budapest – The National Innovation Office (NIH), as the accreditation organization of the Call for Proposals for awarding the title of “Accredited Technological Incubator” (ATI-2013), has announced the winners of ATI-2013 (the Call was published in July) at the Award Ceremony on 15 October. According to the decision of the international Selection Committee (SC), this year’s awarded incubators come from the ICT and Life Science sectors.

Hungarian startups meet with Israel-based businesses
The National Economy Ministry, the National Innovation Office (NIH) and the Israeli Embassy to Hungary hosted the first Israel-Hungary Innovation Day at Graphisoft Park yesterday in Óbuda. NIH acting chairman László Korányi stated that an agreement signed on Wednesday by his office would provide €2 million in funding to Israel- and Hungary-based business looking to establish or advance business relations.

Consultation of the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology at the National Innovation Office
Between August 28 and September 2, 2013, a Vietnamese delegation from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) negotiated international relations, in Budapest. The current S&T cooperation agreement between Hungary and Vietnam was signed in 2005. The National Innovation Office in Hungary, and the Ministry of Science and Technology in Vietnam are the bodies in charge for the implementation of the intergovernmental agreement.
