Pursuant to Act LXXVI of 2014 on scientific research, development and innovation, the professional content of R&D projects to be funded from the NRDI Fund should be evaluated by disciplinary councils invited and commissioned by the NRDI Office.

Disciplinary councils play an outstanding role in shaping the concept of R&D programmes and calls for proposals, assessing the programmes, project proposals and reports, moreover, they also make propositions for the President of the NRDI Office in selecting members of the review panels within their disciplines to evaluate RDI project proposals. The chairs and members of the disciplinary councils are commissioned by the President of the NRDI Office for a definite period of time.

The following four disciplinary councils take part in the assessment of project proposals to be funded from the National Research, Development and Innovation Fund by the National Research, Development and Innovation Office:

  1. Council of Humanities and Social Sciences
  2. Council of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Engineering
  3. Council of Complex Environmental Sciences (agricultural science, earth science, ecology)
  4. Council of Medical and Biological Sciences
