Budapest, Monday, 26 September 2022 (MTI) – The internationalisation of Hungarian businesses and knowledge centres will be supported by the international calls for proposals from the National Research, Development and Innovation Fund. While last year a total of HUF 3.5 billion was allocated for this purpose, in 2022 the amount will be HUF 6 billion, the Ministry of Culture and Innovation disclosed to MTI on Monday.

Budapest, Tuesday 13 September 2022 (MTI) – More than 350 researchers and research teams have won a total of HUF 12.7 billion in funding for the next 3 or 4 years in this year’s basic research calls, the Ministry of Culture and Innovation (KIM) informed MTI on Tuesday.

Budapest, Friday 9 September 2022 (MTI) – A total of 10 domestic research projects will receive support from the HUF 3 billion budget of the 2022 call of the Forefront Research Excellence Programme, the Ministry of Culture and Innovation (KIM) disclosed to MTI on Friday.

Budapest, Monday, 13 June 2022 (MTI) - Hungary will increase its research, development and innovation spending from the current 1.6 percent of GDP to 3 percent by 2030, Minister of Culture and Innovation János Csák said at the awards ceremony of the 31st National Youth Science and Innovation Contest in Budapest on Monday.

On 1 June 2022, the National Research, Development and Innovation Office (NRDIO) and the Brazilian Industrial Research and Development Agency (EMBRAPII) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to intensify their cooperation in the field of research, development and innovation, creating the opportunity to launch a joint Brazilian-Hungarian RDI project funding call.

Debrecen, Wednesday, 8 June 2022 (MTI) – The University of Debrecen (DE) has also joined the Position Paper on Open Science, published earlier by the National Research, Development and Innovation Office (NRDI Office). Zoltán Szilvássy, Rector, received the certificate from István Szabó, Vice President of the NRDI Office, on Wednesday, the University’s press service told MTI (Hungarian Press Agency).

Szeged, Wednesday, 25 May 2022 (MTI) – Research on the development of therapies against antibiotic-resistant bacteria and mRNA-based vaccines will be conducted in the new building of the National Biotechnology Laboratory, which was inaugurated on Wednesday at the Biological Research Centre, Szeged (SZBK).

Zalaegerszeg, Thursday, 26 May 2022 (MTI) - Energy production in Hungary must be strengthened, because gas and oil will not always be available “through the pipes”, the Minister of Technology and Industry stressed, announcing a six-point programme to strengthen energy supply.

The certificate issued on the occasion of joining was handed over to Prof. Dr. Előd Takáts, Rector of the university by Dr. István Szabó, Vice President for Science and International Affairs of the NRDIO on 18 May 2022.

The University of Pannonia in Veszprém is the first university outside Budapest that joined the Position Paper initiated by the NRDI Office.

Around 2,000 winners are eligible for grants worth a total of nearly HUF 4 billion under the 2022 calls of the New National Excellence Programme (NNEP). In the first six years of the programme, which has been running since 2016, more than 10,000 university students and young researchers have already received HUF 22 billion in support for a successful start to their careers, announced József Bódis, state secretary for higher education, innovation and vocational training of the Ministry for Innovation and Technology (ITM).
