Recognising the international visibility of scientific results is gaining importance worldwide. It is measured by innovation scoreboards, university rankings and the citation index of scientific publications.

By announcing the call titled “Funding for research groups with internationally outstanding high impact results” (KH_18), having a total budget of HUF 1.2 billion, the NRDI Office incentivises domestic research groups to achieve new results which greatly advance their field of science and lay the groundwork for further research and applied developments, and to present them in the most visible international scientific forums to achieve substantial citations.

Of the proposals submitted in the 2nd assessment round, 32 met the strict requirements of the call and won nearly HUF 616 million in funding under the excellence programme fostering international visibility of Hungarian scientific results.
