The purpose of the of the EXCELLENCE research call, National Research Excellence Programme, launched on 14 May 2024 under the management of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office (NRDI Office) is to provide an opportunity to develop successful participation in the funding programmes launched by the European Research Council (ERC) for researchers who have demonstrated their standing in the international elite of the scientific community with significant international achievements in competing for funding in the past.
In June 2024, 6 project proposals were received for the call with a total funding request of HUF 1,080,544,000. The Research Council of Hungary has made a shortlist of proposals to be funded on the basis of the project proposals submitted to the ERC and the assessors’ evaluations. The decision on funding was made by the President of the NRDI Office granting a total of HUF 125,000,000 in non-refundable funding from the NRDI Fund to two outstanding research proposals.
