Winners of the “OTKA” young researcher excellence programme (FK_20)
28 August 2020
Last modified: 09 October 2020
Reading time: 20 minute(s)
The call announced separately for researchers who obtained their scientific degrees not more than 12 years earlier (after 1 January 2008) (FK_20) enabled young researchers to team up and launch independent research projects in Hungary.

This year 409 project proposals were submitted with a total funding request of HUF 13.95 billion. The call for thematic projects specifically targeted at early-stage researchers (FK_20) supported 99 new projects this year with a total funding of HUF 3.3 billion.

Followed the assessment mechanism applied to thematic research projects, the proposals were assessed by expert panels and scientific councils based on anonymous peer reviews. Taking into account the rankings compiled by professional bodies for each scientific field, the scientific performance of the applicants in previous years and the significance of the project proposals from a policy perspective, the deputy secretary of state for innovation, vested with this responsibility by the minister for science policy coordination, decided to grant support to 98 projects in the following breakdown by scientific field:
