Managed by the National Research, Development and Innovation Office (NRDI Office), the HIGHLIGHT sub-programme under the National Research Excellence Programme, announced on 14 March 2025, aims to support domestic research groups with constant excellent achievements in the global community of science that already secured significant funding, typically started to develop with support of a substantial grant, and whose excellent achievements can be sustained by this programme.
16 valid proposals were submitted for the HIGHLIGHT_25 sub-programme, with funding request of 2,018,120,000 in total. The Research Council of Hungary decided on the proposals at its evaluation meeting on 28 October 2025. The decision on funding was made on 31 October 2025 by the Scientific Co-President of the NRDI Office granting a total of HUF 1,848,481,000 in non-refundable funding from the NRDI Fund to 6 outstanding research proposals.
