The call for proposals announced by the NRDI Office this January encourages domestic enterprises to develop marketable innovative products, services and technologies containing substantial intellectual added value. The call is financed from the National Research, Development and Innovation Fund.

The call for proposals announced in January 2018 supports domestic micro and small size enterprises in the Central Hungary region to develop quickly marketable, innovative products, services and procedures as well as their market entry and intellectual property protection. The call for proposals announced in January 2018 aims to facilitate long-term sustainable cooperation relationships of strategic importance between Hungarian businesses and research and knowledge-dissemination organisations to produce marketable scientific achievements which address industrial needs and can tackle highly important societal and economic challenges. From the call titled Research projects based on international cooperation (NN_18) 18 project proposals won a total funding of HUF 670 million.

From the Postdoctoral excellence programme (PD_18), with a total budget of HUF 1.5 billion, 68 researchers won a three-year scholarship.

Research projects initiated by young researchers (FK_18), with a total budget of HUF 2,9 billion, provides targeted funding to the independent scientific work of researchers aged under 40 years.

The call titled Researcher-initiated research projects (K_18) was open until 14 February 2018 for promising researcher-initiated basic research projects in any field of science without thematic priorities.

The call aims to further improve the already considerable success rate of Hungarian researchers affiliated to Hungarian research institutions in ERC funding programmes, thus increasing the number of ERC funded projects in Hungary and the international reputation of Hungarian researchers and research institutions. The call enables researchers having a legal relationship with a Hungarian research centre to do research and exchange information while spending three to four months in a research group whose principal investigator has already won StG, CoG or AdG funding. This allows researchers to gain hands-on experience in how to prepare a successful ERC project proposal and how to lead an ERC funded research group, increasing their chance to successfully apply for ERC funding when returning home.
