Further project proposals won funding for novelty search, patent acquisition and patent maintenance projects aimed at the protection of intellectual property under industrial property law, and for activities focusing on the evaluation of intellectual property from the National Research, Development and Innovation Fund.

From the call titled Thematic research projects based on Hungarian–Austrian cooperation or Hungarian–Slovenian cooperation 10 project proposals won a total funding of HUF 388 million.

Funded projects: Hungarian–Slovenian Lead Agency cooperation
In the framework of the Lead Agency agreement concluded on 4 April 2014 between the Slovenian Research Agency (ARRS) and the Hungarian Scientific Research Fund (OTKA), and continued by the National Research, Development and Innovation Office as the legal successor of OTKA, this year Hungarian–Slovenian research groups had the opportunity to get funding for joint basic research projects under the Call for Thematic research project proposals based on Hungarian–Austrian and Hungarian–Slovenian international cooperation (ANN_20, SNN_20).

Funded projects following further increase of the 2020 budget of OTKA calls
The total amount of funding available for OTKA calls in 2020 was increased with an approximately HUF 300 million, the amount that remained after adaption of the Frontline calls to international standards. The budget increase allowed the funding of seven additional projects on top of the ones previously proposed for funding by the scientific councils.

Open Innovation (2019-1.4.1-NYÍLT), funded project
Drawing on international examples, the call for proposals aims to promote the involvement of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in tackling research and innovation issues arising at large companies but not related to their core activities, thus strengthening cooperation and knowledge transfer between them, as well as enhancing the competitiveness of the Hungarian SME sector.
