Dr. Aczél PetraBorn in Budapest in 1971, she completed her university and doctoral studies at Eötvös Loránd University. She obtained her PhD in linguistics in 2003 and habilitated at the same institution in 2011. She has been working in Hungarian higher education for 29 years since 1995, serving as an associate professor since 2007, a habilitated associate professor since 2011, and a full professor since 2016. She has lectured at several institutions, including Corvinus University of Budapest, Eötvös Loránd University, Pázmány Péter Catholic University, and the University of Richmond (Richmond, VA, USA).

Her research areas include classical and modern rhetoric, new media, future literacy, and, more recently, artificial intelligence and science communication. Six of her students have earned doctoral degrees, two in rhetoric, and she is currently supervising the scientific work of six more young researchers.

She is the author of four solo books, co-author of four books, and editor or co-editor of six books, with a total of more than 223 scientific publications in Hungarian and English. Her publications are required and elective reading in university courses both domestically and internationally. Her research activity continues in the fields of media, communication, and rhetoric. She has received several awards throughout her career, including the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary, the Bonis Bona Lifetime Achievement Award for the Nation’s Talents, the European Award for Excellence in Teaching in the Social Sciences and Humanities, the Kenneth Rice Award, and the Sebők Tamás Award.
