Biologist, senior research fellow at the Centre for Ecological Research, Institute of Ecology and Botany. She is a long-time professional in the field of nature conservation, and in 1997 she led the development of the National Biodiversity Monitoring System (NBmR). She is actively involved in promoting the use of scientific results in decision-making (science-policy interface). Katalin Török is a current and former member of several national and international professional organizations, including the UNESCO Hungarian MAB National Committee, Society for Ecological Restoration International (SER, Board of Directors), Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) MEP (Multidisciplinary Expert Panel). The latter organisation was awarded the Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity in 2022, jointly with the IPCC.
