Dr. Kroó NorbertPhysicist, Wigner Centre for Physics, Institute for Particle and Nuclear Physics

Physicist, full-time research professor, full member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA). His main research interests are the study of the interaction of light and matter in intense laser fields, the physics and practical applications of gas lasers, and the interplay and combination of lasers and tunnelling microscopy. He was Secretary General of the MTA from 1999 to 2005 and one of its Vice-Presidents from 2005 to 2011.

Since 2011, he has been advisor to the President of the MTA. Internationally, he was a founding member of the 22-member European Scientific Council of the EU between 2005 and 2014. He also chaired the EU Research Infrastructure Committee from 2006 to 2015.
