László Korányi, Acting President of the National Innovation Office (NIO) received the four-person delegation of the Science & Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality (STCSM) at his Office on June 3, 2013. The Chinese delegation paid a visit to Hungary before leaving to the Czech Republic and Romania. The aim of the present visit was to deepen existing inter-institutional relations.

The National Innovation Office arrived to yet another milestone with the organisation of the Innotrends Hungary 2013 international conference and exhibition where, with the cooperation of the domestic RDI professional partners, more than 70 exhibitors will gather in Budapest on June 11-12, 2013, in buildings B, C, and D of the Millenáris Park.

The Department of International Cooperation of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and the International Technology Transfer Network (ITTN) supported by the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission jointly hosted the International Technology Transfer Congress on the 25 – 27th of April 2013, in Beijing.

Budapest, April 24, 2013 – For the first time in Hungary, an international conference on seismic base isolation was held at the National Innovation Office (NIO) on the 24th of April 2013. Along with more than 90 participants, a Chinese delegation, led by professor Fu Lin Zhou and Mr. Ning Xiang Liang, CEO of the Zhuzhou Times New Material Technology, attended the workshop.

Budapest, March 13, 2013 – Hungary’s policy of opening to the East seeks for a closer cooperation with the Arab world, including Kuwait with whom Hungary would like to establish a strong strategic partnership.

The S&T attachés work for the interest of the Hungarian technology and innovation community according to the government’s aim to improve research and technology-development.

Shenzhen, December 11, 2012 - Dr. György Mészáros, President of the National Innovation Office (NIO) met the chief executives of the Chinese State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA) in Shenzhen on December 11, 2012. The purpose of the NIO delegation’s visit was, beyond the deepening of bilateral science & technology (S&T) relations, to conclude an inter-institutional cooperation agreement.

Kuwait City, November 6th, 2012. – Under the auspices of the government delegation lead by state secretary for foreign policy and trade, Mr. Péter Szíjjártó, National Innovation Office (NIO) head Dr. György Mészáros signed a Memorandum of Understanding with his counterpart at the National Technology Enterprise Company (NTEC), Mr. Anas Meerza.

26. November 2012. Budapest – Dr. György Mészáros, president of the National Innovation Office (NIH), as a member of a government delegation, lead by Mr. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, has signed a bilateral cooperation agreement with Dr. Mateja Mešl, director general of the Slovenian Technology Agency (TIA – a public agency for tachnology).

Dr. György Mészáros, President of the National Innovation Office (NIH) received the four-member delegation of the Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality (STCSM) at his Office on November 19. The Shanghai delegation visited Hungarian partner institutions following similar dicussions in Germany. Beyond the deepening of existing Hungarian-Shanghainese science and technology (S&T) relations, the aim of the current visit was to ink an inter-institutinal memorandum of understanding with the NIH.

The Ministry for National Economy launches a consultation to establish tenders for the development of research infrastructure. The professional work is coordinated by the National Innovation Office. The aim of the consultation is the development of the Hungarian research infrastructure and to make it competitive by using the resources of the EU Structural Fund and of the National Research and Innovation Fund. The work starts in August 2012 and the discussion paper will be ready by 15 November 2012 supported by the NEKIFUT project.

The National Innovation Office held a project generating workshop under the motto “Go east!” where promising innovative, marketable Hungarian products and technologies were presented. 18 small and medium sized enterprises were participated on the business muster which enterprises plan to bring their project to the market with the involvement of Chinese partners or capital.

The very first Central and Eastern European building entry security system based on human vein scanning was unveiled last week as a result of a unique, cutting-edge technology that followed years of Japanese-Hungarian cooperation. Personal identification relying on palm vein scanning represents the latest generation of entry and access control technologies.

The National Innovation Office’s (NIH) scope of activities are going to broaden probably from spring as the Science and Technology Observatory starts its operation, Dr. György Mészáros, president of the NIH announced at the meeting of the Parliament’s Innovation and Development Committee on 28th March.

Aloizio Mercadante, the Brazilian Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation visited Dr. György Mészáros, President of the National Innovation Office on 18 November 2011. The Minister was honored to accept the invitation from a country, where the traditions of scientific research date back many centuries.

A day-long workshop jointly hosted by BGI and the National Innovation Office of the Government of Hungary was successfully held on 19th of October in Budapest. This workshop is a step towards a formal collaboration after the two parties signed a cooperation framework agreement on the establishment of the Central European center of BGI last month.

On December 9, 2010 NKTH held a workshop for professionals with the goal to get an overview on international programmes and related Hungarian R&D activities aiming at the development of a new generation internet technology and network. At the event renowned Hungarian experts discussed the international efforts made on the research and development of the next generation internet network, paying special attention to the relevant R&D programmes and initiatives of the EU, and the actualities of Hungarian research projects on the subject.

EuroNanoForum is a biannual event organised within the framework of the Presidency of the European Union. EuroNanoForum 2011 will be the fifth event in this series, and will take place under the Hungarian Presidency at the Budapest Congress and World Trade Center from 30th May to 1st June 2011. EuroNanoForum 2011 has received funding from the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) under grant agreement n° 266810, and from the National Office for Research and Technology in Hungary.

Invited by the National Office for Research and Technology (NKTH), representatives of the ASPERA network (AStroParticle physics ERAnet – European Research Area network responsible for astroparticle physics) have conferred in Hungary. The main purpose of the initiative supported by EU is to join forces of the European funding agencies in astroparticle physics and develop a strategy for the future in this research field. The ASPERA network has prepared the European Strategy for Astroparticle Physics, which determines the most important research infrastructures needed in the area of astroparticle physics in Europe. The main objective of the ASPERA Hungarian National Day organized in Budapest on 15 October 2010 was to present the Hungarian science activities in astroparticle physics and the science funding system in Hungary to the other 21 partner funding agencies in the network. ASPERA is creating a roadmap for future directions in this research field and is identifying the large research infrastructure it will support in the near future, therefore it is important for Hungarian researchers to be informed about this decision making process and it is also imperative that the voice of the Hungarian research community be heard.
