Submission of proposals

Requests for a professional opinion can be completed by logging in at kfivelemeny.nkfih.gov.hu, taking into consideration the assessment criteria indicated there and also listed in section 8 of the call (criteria for assessing requests for a professional opinion submitted on kfivelemeny.nkfih.gov.hu).

Applications for a professional opinion can be submitted from noon on 06 December 2023 until noon on 14 December 2023.

Project proposals should be submitted online, by logging in and completing the online application form on the Participant Portal (Pályázati e-ügyintézés) at www.palyazat.gov.hu. The finalised proposal must be submitted together with a duly signed statement verifying the electronic submission of the application, in line with the Application Guidelines.
Project proposals can be submitted (electronically) from the activation of the online application form until 12:00 CET, 30 August 2024.

Eligible applicants

The call is open to legal entities with registered seat in Hungary or with registered seat in the European Economic Area and a branch office in Hungary, more specifically:

• micro and small enterprises with a GFO code as defined in the Call and which maintain double-entry accounting.

Eligible project objectives

• Activities eligible for funding independently: experimental development (min. 50% of the eligible project costs).
• Activities not eligible for funding independently: applied (industrial) research, purchase of equipment, purchase of intangible assets, purchase of hardware and software for market access activities and R&D project support activities, software subscription services, project management (coordination), mandatory publicity (information activity), general costs (overheads), public procurement, qualified mentoring, participation in conferences and exhibitions, other staff-related payments.

Additional important terms

• Applicants are required to commit to create at least one TRL 7 prototype/product/technology/service during the project.
• At least 30% (in terms of FTE) of the staff employed or engaged in the project has to be researchers. The project leader of the underlying research has to be employed by the implementing company for at least 50% of the “standard” (40-hour) working week throughout the duration of the project.
• The project has to reach a higher Technological Maturity Level (TRL). The project has to start from at least TRL 4 and reach at least TRL 7 by the end of the implementation period.
• Throughout the project’s implementation phase, applicants commit to securing the assistance of at least one mentor, ensuring the project advances successfully, both in professional and commercial terms.  The employment of a mentor has to be included in the project proposal as a binding commitment. The applicant has to employ the mentor until the actual completion of the project. The mentor and/or the mentored activity may be changed during the implementation period, if justified. The mentor and/or the mentored activity may be changed during the implementation and maintenance period, if justified.
• Commitment to obtaining patent protection
• The applicant has to commit to meeting at least one of the following market outcomes:
• Realisation of external market investment
• Realisation of revenue
• Realisation of the funding awarded during the maintenance period

Total budget and maximum amount of funding

Total budget: HUF 2 billion.

The amount of non-reimbursable funding is minimum HUF 100 million and maximum HUF 300 million per project proposal.
