The aim of the call for proposals is to provide a predictable source of funding to stimulate innovation in the Hungarian economy and to enable the strengthening of research and development in the fields of economy and social life, the exploitation of domestic and foreign research results, the development of innovation infrastructure and its service activities, and to this end:

  • encourage Hungarian applicants to build and develop their international networks and to actively participate in the activities of professional associations and international organisations,
  • increase the visibility of Hungarian RDI activities and results,
  • to help Hungarian actors to build strategic relationships leading to successful participation in calls for proposals, and to actively participate in the development of the European Research Framework Programmes’ thematic areas.

The proposal must include the following in relation to the project:

  • the presentation and website of the European professional organisation,
  • information on the professional organisation’s membership fees,
  • a description of the activity to be carried out by the Hungarian participants in the professional organisation,
  • the demonstration of the professional usefulness of active work in the European professional organisation and its further usefulness,
  • the name, date and venue of the professional event organised by the European professional organisation (if known at the time of application),
  • the number, names and schedules of the participants travelling to each event in the framework of the project.

Submission of proposals

To submit your proposal, log in to the Participant Portal (Pályázati e-ügyintézés) at www.palyazat.gov.hu and complete the online form. The finalised proposal must be submitted together with a duly signed statement verifying the electronic submission of the proposal, in line with the Guidelines.

Proposals are accepted electronically from the official opening of the online form until 12:00 CET, 13 December 2024.

Eligible applicants

Proposals under this call must be submitted individually.

The call is open to legal entities with registered seat in Hungary or with registered seat in the European Economic Area and a branch office in Hungary, more specifically:

  • non-profit and other not-for-profit organisations as defined in the call (with GFO codes 552,563,599 or 931), which are designated as state-recognised, non-public higher education institutions (denominational or private higher education institutions) in Annex 1 of Act CCIV of 2011 on National Higher Education and are also classified as research and knowledge-dissemination organisations under Article 2(83) of Commission Regulation (EU) No 651/2014,
  • budgetary organs and budgetary entities (with GFO code 312) classified as research and knowledge-dissemination organisations under Article 2(83) of Commission Regulation (EU) No 651/2014;

Duration of the project

Maximum project duration is 12 months.

Total expected budget for 2025: HUF 100 million

Maximum non-refundable funding per project: HUF 3,000,000

To ensure value-based professional evaluation of proposals arriving in large quantities from the fields of discovery and applied research and innovation, to assess professional reports of funded projects and to prepare policy opinions, the NRDI Office intends to expand its expert pool in all fields of expertise.

Professionals who have registered in the database of the NRDI Office can become responsible contributors, as independent peer-reviewers, to the evaluation process in which the professional quality, novelty content and commercialisation perspectives of the proposals as compared to the requested funding should be assessed as core considerations.

The registration process can be initiated through the registration form of the NRDI Office’s website. Registration is continuously open.

Requested data within the expert registration form include:

  • personal data, contact details (necessary for contracting review assignments);
  • classification of professional skills and competencies and research areas (to get review invitations fine-tuned to your field of expertise);
  • topics of the previously reviewed proposals;
  • present and past jobs, interest networks (in order to pre-screening of conflicts of interest in a given rview assignment), education, scientific titles, most important publications and intellectual works demonstrating your professional experience;
  • language skills.

Professionals once registered in the database of experts may be invited by the NRDI Office to review submitted proposals, to assess professional reports of funded projects and to contribute to policy opinions.

Each proposal is reviewed by several independent experts at the same time. Experts selected from the database to review proposals, to assess professional reports and facilitate expert opinions will be contracted by the NRDI Office on a case-by-case basis. When concluding such a contract experts must declare that the review assignment is not obstructed by any conflict of interest whatsoever. Depending on the competition type, written expert reviews must be prepared in 15-28 work days and submitted electronically via the online review portal of the NRDI Office.
