The call aims to facilitate long-term sustainable cooperation relationships of strategic importance between Hungarian businesses and research and knowledge-dissemination organisations resulting in scientific achievements which address industrial needs and can be commercially utilised in the framework of RDI projects led by the industrial consortium leader, and altogether contribute to the solution of highly important societal and economic challenges.

The call is financed from the National Research, Development and Innovation Fund.

Submission of applications

The applications have to be submitted electronically on the Participant Portal (Pályázati e-ügyintézés) which can be reached through the www.palyazat.gov.hu website. Along with the application finalised in the online application form, applicants have to submit a duly executed statement certifying the electronic submission of the application. Submissions are accepted from the announcement of the online application form as long as available funds last, but no later than 28 February 2018 at 14:00 (CET).

Eligible applicants

The call is exclusively open to consortia comprised of up to 5 members. Consortium partners have to be legal entities with registered seat in Hungary or with registered seat in the European Economic Area and a branch office in Hungary, more specifically:

• business companies, non-profit companies and other economic organisations specified in the call, provided that they have at least two completed business years, maintain double-entry accounting and are not subject to the simplified entrepreneurial tax (EVA) or the small taxpayers’ itemized lump sum tax (KATA) 
  
• denominational or private higher education institutions accredited by the state, qualifying as research and knowledge-dissemination organisations under Article 2 (83) of Council Regulation 651/2014/EU
  
• budgetary organs and budgetary entities, qualifying as research and knowledge-dissemination organisations under Article 2 (83) of Council Regulation 651/2014/EU.
  

Eligible objectives and actions

Project proposals have to fit in with the sectoral or horizontal priorities identified in the National Smart Specialisation Strategy, and have to be implemented in the applicant’s seat, business premise or branch office in Hungary registered before the submission of the application. Eligible actions (only applied research and experimental development can be funded if the applicant applies independently):

• applied (industrial) research
  
• experimental development
  
• fundamental research
  
• coordination activities related to the project
  
• publicity activities
  
• public procurement
  
• market entry
  
• activity related to industrial property rights in the case of SMEs and large companies
  
• acquisitions of fixed assets
  
• procurement of immaterial assets
  
• construction, expansion, rearrangement, modernisation, renovation of buildings absolutely necessary for the purposes of the project, and the necessary developments of basic infrastructure.
  

Total available budget and maximum funding per project

The total budget of the call is HUF 26 billion financed from the NRDI Fund. The funding is non-refundable and its maximum is HUF 500 to 1500 million per project.

Duration of the project

Funded projects shall be implemented within 36 months from project launch. Eligible project costs can be declared from the start date specified in the grant agreement. The applicant shall maintain the project results for 3 years.
